A TCU kinesiology professor is breaking down the science behind human speed.

Vicki Brooks was recently an invited guest of the White House to represent the rural nurse and rural nurse practitioner workforce, as well as TCU.

Health care is a rapidly changing field, and TCU aims to provide students in the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences every opportunity to engage in hands-on learning in state-of-the-art facilities. A trio of recent projects emphasizes this experience across multiple disciplines.

The Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences has its first Flynn Fellow. TCU Nursing senior Ellie Coffey was recognized by the Flynn Foundation for her participation in the Susan D. Flynn Oncology Nursing Fellowship program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

TCU and Children’s Health received the 2025 Exemplary Academic-Practice Partnership Award from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for their academic-clinical research partnership.

When Destiny Neal and Madison Simms tell people what they’re studying, they’re often met with the same question: What exactly is occupational therapy? Now over halfway through their first semester of study, their elevator pitch for the field is well-refined.

Thomas Sargent said he’s always wanted to teach. Before joining Harris College this year as an assistant professor of professional practice in nursing, Sargent recently worked at Parkland Health in Dallas as a mental health provider, and his clinical focus has been evidence-based addiction psychiatry, with one of his scholarly focuses being workplace violence prevention.

Exemplifying TCU’s teacher-scholar model, a Harris College faculty member and student recently attended the XI Brazilian Pediatric and Neonatal Nursing Conference held in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Eny Dorea, associate professor of nursing, delivered a lecture and was accompanied by nursing major Rebecca Leeson, who presented her research.

Harris College of Nursing & Health Science’s Endeavor Parkinsonology welcomes Dr. Ray Dorsey, a nationally recognized pioneer, practitioner and leader in digital health and telemedicine, as the keynote speaker for the Fall 2025 Zoota Family Leaders in Parkinson’s Disease Speaker series Oct. 11.
