Dru Riddle, Ph.D., DNP, CRNA, FAAN and assistant professor of professional practice at Harris College’s School of Nurse Anesthesia has been appointed to serve on the Texas Board of Nursing by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
“I’m excited to serve and honored to have been considered by the Governor for this role,” said Riddle.
Starting Sept. 1, 2023, Riddle will play a role in supervising nursing professionals, assessing student examinations and upholding ethical standards for licensed practitioners. The Board, under his guidance, will establish and release the basic prerequisites and benchmarks for nursing degree programs of different levels.
Riddle currently serves as the director of the Center for Translational Research at TCU and is the principal investigator on a $1 million grant to prioritize research topics to advance racial health equity. Riddle also recently began his term as president of the 61,000-member American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA).
“We are so grateful to Dru for his continued service to the profession of nursing and nurse anesthesia,” said Robyn Ward, Ph. D., director of the School of Nurse Anesthesia at TCU. “We are all very proud of him and his service to our profession in so many ways.”
